I've been getting ready for the big happening next weekend. Art A Whirl takes place in NE Minneapolis and our studio at Northrup King Building at 1500 Jackson will be open Thursday, May 17 5-9, Friday May 18, 5-10PM, Saturday May 19, 12-8PM and Sunday May 20, 12-5PM I hope you will come and visit. Here's a new painting that I hope will turn out to be a series called Inside and Outside. It was fun to do and came from the experience of a house tour last weekend that included a walk in the woods and an invitation to see a wonderful art collection inside.

It is a sound like no other, rain on the roof, that brings back memories. In the home that I grew up in, I would lie in bed listening to the rain on the tin roof and the sounds today reminds me of that description, "pitter patter" I have been struggling with my paintings. Some of them don't even make it to my basement collection before getting ripped up on the back porch. Here are a couple of new paintings that are still alive. The restaurant is from a sketch I did at Curran's Restaurant on 42nd and Nicollet, Mpls. and the other one is an attempt to get the spring feel on Minnehaha Parkway

Just went to a workshop on portrait painting and learned how much I do not know about painting. But it is exciting to learn something new and keep on a'truckin. Here is a fairly recent painting that got too detailed. I'm now getting organized for art a whirl coming up very soon in the middle of May. I'm hoping to see you there. This year I will be concentrating on Art a Whirl and I sadly will not be at Art on the Line at the State Fair. The two shows are on the same weekend!!!!! I almost forgot to add that I have a page in the last Palette Magazine.......

Happy Easter, I am back from Florida, finally recovered from my cold. The show at Hopkins is over. We took the paintings home today. It was a great show and I am so honored to have been part of it. thank you everyone for coming. Here are some of the paintings that I did recently....none very good. My Easter painting is rather strange and I am looking for titles. Hope you can help me. Until later......

Down week of painting, sick with a cold and so on......I wonder what happens to my energy to paint and am grateful for my usual fountain of creative ideas and motivation. It is so surprising to me how much I take my health for granted and then wham I get sick and the fountain goes dry and so on and on. I'll share a few of my sick paintings maybe later.....I'll work on them some more. I'm off to Florida for a week and a half, palm trees, flowers, warmth, etc....not to mention ocean. Next opportunity at Northrup King is the first Thursday of April 5-9, and Saturdays 12-4 and don't forget if you haven't seen the Masters Manipulation Show at the Hopkins Art Center, it will be there until April 8th. It is definitely worth seeing.

The opening of the Masters Maniputlation Show at the Hopkins center for the Arts last Saturday evening was well attended and I think was very exciting. I will be at the Hopkins Center at 10am to show a friend the show and if you want to join us that would be great. Also I will be there with a few friends on Monday morning, the 12th of March and you are welcome to join us at that time.

Well the snow storm did not come on Monday and is still threatening here on Tuesday but we did get the show hung at Hopkins Art Center and it looks wonderful. Here I am again checking in with my blog. I am getting very excited to see what our Manipulating the Masters Show at the Hopkins Art Center will look like when we hang the show next Monday. Of course, they are predicting a snow fall on Sunday and Monday that may make transporting the paintings difficult but I'm sure every thing will work out. Here are a couple of paintings I did yesterday and today. the Fish painting is called "The Fish have Landed"....and the blue painting, is of Mother Winter taking a vacation from Minnesota this year and giving us a sunny welcome mild weather.

Here I am thinking about blogging but having nothing to say. I haven't painted anything wonderful in quite sometime. Perhaps it's artist block!!!!! Whatever that is. We will be hanging the big show at Hopkins Art Center on February 28 and the opening reception is March 3, 2012 from 6-8pm. I am very excited to see this show finally get hung and see how it all looks together. Six artists each doing their renditions of twelve master painters. I hope you can come. Here's my take on Picasso's painting.
