I can't believe that it has been over three months since I blogged.  I have continued to paint at least twice a week.  I feel happy to report that I made it into the phase two of the application process for the State Fair and will hear soon if I have made it all the way.  I have also been accepted into the Northstar Watermedia National Show and it will be held at the White Bear Center for the Arts from Sept 10 to October 18th.  Other than that not a lot has happened in my life.  I wish you all happiness and a huge fulfillment of joy.  emmy

Time is flying.  I've been painting and some of my paintings are a little crazy looking but it's been fun and I love to play with colors, mixing and seeing what combinations look good to my eye.  It is a journey and I think I am not in charge so much as just letting moment by moment happen.  It is still snowing here and there in Minnesota and stays chilly in the twenties and thirties.  It's been a difficult year politically and stressful.  Painting helps the stress.  I am calm and relaxed whe...

Howdy Everyone.  Happy New Year and all of that.  I have been painting and that is a good thing.  It has been outrageously cold here as in the rest of the country.  So painting is a great thing to do to stay focused and active.  Here is one of my recent paintings.  Half sheet called Spring is coming.

November 19, 2017
It's almost Thanksgiving time and Art Attack has come and gone.  It was a great time and I enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new friends.  I have completed my Turkey painting.  Every November I paint a painting with Turkeys.  The turkeys alway wear lavender boots and usually have something important to say.  This year the subject is justice and I will post the painting here.  It has been sold already.  I'm sure this will disappoint you no end but what can I say.  love to all of you this ...

Yep, fall is creeping in like a slow but noticeable panther,  quiet but steady.  Warm days, and chilly days, lots of rain and trees starting to color.  I am done painting outside this year and will be painting more from my doodles and thoughts.  I went to a workshop on doing abstract painting using Yupo paper which is plastic coated paper.  Slippering and interesting.  Here's a political message.  See if you can find the message.

August 25, 2017
August has been a chilly month but we have had a great time painting plein-air with a fairly large group of painters.  My results have been rather frustrating.  They seem too busy and my big problem of wanting to include everything is an old difficulty.  However, I am happy to be painting, happy to be out there.  The State Fair exhibition of fine arts is currently on display.  It is a great show.  I was not accepted but I will continue my commitment  to always enter the great Minnesota State ...

Well, I'm looking at my last blog where I was determined to simplfy.  Ha.   It is easier said than done.  But I am having fun painting outside with friends.  Art of lakes studio tour will be the weekend of July 14th and I'm excited to be part of that.  I'll write more later.  Take care

Art A Whirl at Northrup King Building and Art Market at the State Fair have come and gone.  It was a happy time and especially wonderful to see people and talk.  Now it is getting warm out and time for painting "plein-air".  I can't wait.  It is a total challenge and my goal is to simply simplify.  In other words see shapes and try to leave out the details.  OK then.  Another biggie for me is that the Ramsey County Library in Shoreview bought four of my paintings for their new library childre...

Does it seem that the days, months are flying past?  I don't understand this mystery.  I've continued painting.  Our weather is definitely warmer than usual and a friend told me this week that she has snow drop flowers breaking through in her yard.  This Spring there will be shows sponsored by various Art Groups.  I've entered these shows, one and all.   However,  with the shows that are juried my acceptance is dubious.  Check my calendar for info.  Thanks for listening.

A New Year and a New Pres and new paintings.  Well, some of these paintings have to do with the election and of course i had to get rid of some of my pre election paintings.  yikes.  When an artist paints in the moment of things and things change, some of the paintings get out dated quickly and need to be removed.  That is a problem.  Well, here is my most recent painting of the pink hats worn at the Women's March a day after the election.  Each week I paint at least two paintings.  Some are ...

Getting ready for the BIG Holidays and the SNOW has arrived in Minnesota!!!!  I usually get a Christmas painting out every year and I've been waiting for that old spirit to start churning.  Finally yesterday, I started singing "Sleigh bells" and yes it was getting to be the time.  For your information there is a great show at the Ames center in Burnsville.  It is called Bonnie and Friends and the show is fabulous.  I felt very honored to be in the show.  Thank you Bonnie Featherstone.  I have...

I was asked to illustrate a children's book and the book has been published.  It is for purchase on Amazon.com titled, "Buddy goes to Heaven;"  It has been a busy Fall season with a few shows, The Minnesota Artists Association and The Minnesota Watercolor Society Fall Show.  I continue to paint and my house and studio are full of paintings.  All is well, take care, friends.

Yep, I'm still here.  Still painting, trying to get admitted to shows, and learning the hard lesson that there are a lot of wonderful, talented artists out there and to get accepted to a juried show is quite an honor.  I will be in some non-juried shows and for this I am thrilled.  The MNWS has a fall member show and the MAA has a fall member show both at which I will have some paintings.  Art Attack at Northrup King is coming Nov 5, 6, 7.and I will be Studio 321.  I'm looking forward to seei...

I've been painting this summer with our plein air painting group.  We visit places all over the twin cities and it is such fun.  There will be shows coming up this Fall and I'm entering the shows but as you know, it is only a lucky moment if you get in.  I have new paintings and I'm excited to show them.  I'll let you know if I can in and where you can go to visit the show.
