Now with covid restrictions for NKB lifted, it is easier for everyone to visit studio 321.  However, we are not open on summer months,( June, July and August) on Saturdays. We  ARE open First Thursdays during the summer.  I have been painting with the Northstar plein air painters who find good painting spots through out the twin cities.  It is great to paint outside.  Also I paint with my friend, Ginny, every Tuesday morning.  We've been doing this since the about 1998.  I am very grateful for the consistent companionship in painting.  It makes the painting adventure expand and I realize that I'm learning a little bit at a time.

Yes, I'm still here and covid precautions continue here in Minnesota.  My back situation has improved and I am looking forward to warmer temperatures.  I did get juried into the Minnesota Watercolor Society Spring show and am in the Northstar watermedia member show that is virtual and can be seen by accessing their website.  See you soon I hope.  We may be able to open Studio 321 Northrup King Building by Art a Whirl and so life goes on even in our sad state of pandemic affairs.  Here's my pa...

Covid is still with us and we are taking precautions to the max.  I am still painting but have been having some back trouble so I am not as prolific with painting lately.  I am thankful for all that I have.  Friends, a home, a furnace, and lots of books to read.  Here's sending you a Happy Thanksgiving and remembering all the abundance we have to be thankful for.

Well, here I am again.  Blathering away..  I did look up whether blather is a word and it is a word meaning foolish loose talk.  Hmmmmm  I'm still on my back porch with my computer and paint stuff.  I have been painting and going to my art critique group.  We meet outside with distancing and lots of fresh air ventilation.  I paint lots of covid and political paintings.  They tend to be rather messy and I do them to help my mental health.  I did get into a rather terrific show that was for ple...

The Barn that I featured in my January Blog did win an honorable mention at the Northstar Watermedia member show.  Yay!   The reception was cancelled due to the corona virus.  Also the Minnesota Artist Association Spring show reception was cancelled.  The paintings are up but noone can see them for the building sites are closed.  Yikes!!!  I'm sequestered here on my little back porch that is heated, thank goodness and is where I have my painting stuff and computer.  It is still cold out but w...

Well, it has been a long time since communicated last on my blog.  As with all things, circumstances happen that prevent the routine to continue for a while.  But I am back and am starting to paint more again.  I can't say the paintings are as grrrreat as before but I'm back and happy.  Today it is 8 degrees below zero here in Minneapolis and it is a good day to paint.  I have signed up to enter a few shows this year.  I will let you know it I get in and what is happening.  All is well and I ...

It's a Saturday and it's 10 AM./  I'm trying to get caught up with unfinished threads in my life.  Here I am a retired person and my life gets more and more complicated.  I wonder if it's an age thing.  Perhaps.  At any rate I am still painting.  That is fun and I relax when I'm painting.  I had about 7 paintings at the U of M arboretum in June.  It was great and sold one.  I have already entered the great MN State Fair and won't hear until late this month sometime.  So I'm still at it but th...

I am back from my high school class birthday celebration.....our collective 80th birthdays and after visiting my old homestead in Warren PA and having trouble walking up the stairs to the second floor, I realized with surprise that the stairs were much steeper than I remembered and I hung on the banister for dear life.  Yikes.   I had a solo show in Warren PA during the birthday celebration.  The show was at the Warren Library and the library hosted the show with great enthusiasm.  The show d...

I can't believe that it has been over three months since I blogged.  I have continued to paint at least twice a week.  I feel happy to report that I made it into the phase two of the application process for the State Fair and will hear soon if I have made it all the way.  I have also been accepted into the Northstar Watermedia National Show and it will be held at the White Bear Center for the Arts from Sept 10 to October 18th.  Other than that not a lot has happened in my life.  I wish you al...

Time is flying.  I've been painting and some of my paintings are a little crazy looking but it's been fun and I love to play with colors, mixing and seeing what combinations look good to my eye.  It is a journey and I think I am not in charge so much as just letting moment by moment happen.  It is still snowing here and there in Minnesota and stays chilly in the twenties and thirties.  It's been a difficult year politically and stressful.  Painting helps the stress.  I am calm and relaxed whe...

Howdy Everyone.  Happy New Year and all of that.  I have been painting and that is a good thing.  It has been outrageously cold here as in the rest of the country.  So painting is a great thing to do to stay focused and active.  Here is one of my recent paintings.  Half sheet called Spring is coming.

It's almost Thanksgiving time and Art Attack has come and gone.  It was a great time and I enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new friends.  I have completed my Turkey painting.  Every November I paint a painting with Turkeys.  The turkeys alway wear lavender boots and usually have something important to say.  This year the subject is justice and I will post the painting here.  It has been sold already.  I'm sure this will disappoint you no end but what can I say.  love to all of you this ...
