Here I am thinking about blogging but having nothing to say.  I haven't painted anything wonderful in quite sometime.  Perhaps it's artist block!!!!!  Whatever that is.  We will be hanging the big show at Hopkins Art Center on February 28 and the opening reception is March 3, 2012 from 6-8pm.  I am very excited to see this show finally get hung and see how it all looks together.  Six artists each doing their renditions of twelve master painters. I hope you can come.  Here's my take on Picasso's painting.

Oh My, it is almost Christmas Time.  I wrote a poem today about a painting I did yesterday.  I was with my Wednesday Group that paints at the Centennial Methodist Church in Roseville and as I drew near to finishing, my friends stepped in and gave me valuable suggestions.  I absolutely love painting with friends.  Here's my poem and my painting.  Merry Christmas to all.
I hear the steady sound of the North wind.
Shivers cascade down my spine.
I take a deep breath feeling the energy of Christmas...

It's been a whirl wind since coming back from Skip Lawrence's Workshop.....I don't really know what that means but it sounds good.  Actually, the workshop with the master Skip was wonderful and I learned a lot.  Found out when I returned that the painting I called " Studio Still life" won an award of excellence at the Bloomington Art Center Member Show.  I felt enormously honored.  I then gave a "demo" at the Minnesota Watercolor Society and had a chance to talk about "Story" in paintings. Th...

I'm just back from "Art Camp"......about 30 artists gathered at the Nature Center in Sandstone MN.  It was an intense four days of painting.  Most of my paintings are plein air from the vicinity of Sandstone, MN where the Kettle
River gallops by.  Our weather was spectacular and it was fun be with artist friends.  I'll be going to the big Minnesota State Fair tomorrow.  Unfortunately, my painting did not make it past the judge this year.  But, as all of us who have tried year after year to ge...

Another month has passed!!!  I haven't been too productive because I've been on the road traveling around visiting with friends and family and not doing much painting.  I did hang a few paintings (5) at Cafe Zia's with artist Tom Dimock.  The cafe is located at county road C2 and Lexington just north of the Central Park entrance on Lex.  I'll be back at the painting game soon with my co artists at Ginny's studio and at the paintouts on Wednesdays.  Signing out..Emmy

July 12, 2011
Well, The Fourth of July has come and gone and the fireworks have stopped in the alley near by.  The weather is extremely muggy and doing watercolor in humidity with mosquitoes is challenging.  I can't even show the last two paintings so the only new painting is the one of my two studio 4 mates, Ginny and Barb. Today and tomorrow I am packing up paintings to take to Cal deRuyter's studio on Christina Lake north of Evansville west of Alexandria, MN.  This will be an Art tour and I recommend th...

The three shows are finished....it was great to see so many friends with happy faces come and enjoy the moment with me.  The show at Robbin Gallery is still up until the end of June.  I'll be there both Saturdays, the 18th and 25th from 12-4....so if you want to drop in, do please......I am especially pleased with this show.  There are four artists and we have been painting together every Tuesday for at least five years, maybe more.....the show is exciting and expresses our abstract art.  The...
